You are reserve liquid for any reason. It is often caused by eating excess salt. Standing for long periods can cause swollen ankles sometimes .....

It could be water retention by simple problems such as obesity, eating too much salt, high blood pressure or complex, like a heart problem. You should talk to a doctor as soon as possible.

Mmm .. They have swollen eyes, too?
If you have a swelling that comes and goes for hours or days, almost always due to accumulation of fluid in the tissue under the skin. The medical term for this is edema. It is very common, especially when we get older.

Develop the two most important public places to edema, which are around the eyes and legs. However, to a large amount of fluid in the abdomen in late May, without the person noticing.

Because of the increasing gravity, the edema and swelling around the eyes lying down. Many people have "bags under the eyes when they wake up. Within hours, the bags, but greatly diminished or disappear.

Edema around the eye occurs in many people without any proof that it is a source of abnormal fluid. Can be considered "normal" for that person. But it can also be a problem elsewhere.

The swelling in the legs is one of the first signs of the diseased leg veins, as in varicose veins or blood clots in the veins. Obesity creates an additional burden caused by the pressure of body fat increased in the legs.

Edema may also lead to heart failure, certain types of kidney disease and with too little thyroid hormone. Drugs such as anti-inflammatory drugs and some calcium channel blockers can cause swelling of the ankles. In addition, for the chair bound people, inactivity and compression on the back of the legs, swelling of the legs.

The most common cause of water retention, with or without edema, a large amount of salt in the diet. Salt diet, edema and aggravate other causes, such as heart disease.

So, unless it is not enough liquid, and standing or sitting for long periods (the swelling of the ankles, this could lead to) I think we can recommend a visit to a doctor just to be sure.
